Heather Mahn from Feather Wax Shop in Oceanside, NY has been part of the Scrub Me Good story since the very beginning of her studio.
Heather opened Feather Wax Shop in 2019 and brought Scrub Me Good products into her retail space right away. Since then, she has supported us through so many seasons of growth: new websites, rebrands, packaging updates, product launches, and all the behind-the-scenes learning that comes with building and growing a small business.
That kind of long-term support means so much to us. When a retail partner continues to believe in your products year after year, through every change and every stage of growth, it is never taken for granted.

Q&A with Heather Mahn
Owner of Feather Wax Shop in Oceanside, NY
Tell us a little about yourself and how you got started in the beauty industry.
I started in the beauty industry in 2003. I went to beauty school in high school 11th and 12th grade. I thought that I was going to be a hairdresser. I worked in a salon as an assistant when I graduated in 2005 and got my license. I stayed working in salons while I went to college. I took a break from the salon life a few years later. I got burnt out very quick. I was working as an office manager In 2010 when my best friend got a job at European wax center. I went to go work there fell in love with waxing and I've been waxing ever since. Waxing is my true calling and passion.
What’s your favorite part about helping clients feel confident in their own skin?
My favorite part about helping clients with their skin is giving them the confidence booster to feel great about themselves on top of a therapy session. The connection you build with them is everything.
You’ve been retailing Scrub Me Good for a long time - what made you decide to bring our products into your studio & keep them all this time?
I have been retailing scrub me good since 2019 when I opened my business. I love the company. I love supporting small business and I love that they use all natural ingredients. my clients have nothing but great results with the products.
Which Scrub Me Good product do your clients love the most, and why do you think it's so loved?
My clients love the scrubs from scrub me good the most. they're affordable. They last a long time and they provide great results without being too oily.
What are your best tips for preventing ingrown hairs and maintaining smooth skin between appointments?
The best tips that I give my clients for preventing ingrown hairs is to use natural soaps and products. I tell them to exfoliate at least twice a week. I also tell them less is more not to over exfoliate or to overuse products. That's another reason why I love the scrub me good line because they're tailored to specific skin issues and they are gentle enough that if they are overused, it doesn't really affect the clients skin. I also like that there's no chemicals.
If you could give a new hair removal professional just one piece of advice, what would that be?
If I could give a new hair removal person, some advice that advice would be to be yourself make a connection with the client. Build a relationship. set boundaries from the beginning and follow them by having policies in place and to get practice working somewhere before you go on your own.

Heather’s insights are such good reminders that taking care of your skin between appointments does not have to be complicated. A consistent routine, gentle exfoliation, and listening to your service provider can make a big difference in how your skin feels.
