Sugar Scrub FAQ
What's the difference between the Exfoliating Sugar Scrub and the Bikini Care Scrub?
Exfoliating Sugar Scrub can be used on any area of the body (bikini area included!) and is a great general exfoliator to keep skin hydrated and glowing. Exfoliating and moisturizing are key to preventing ingrown hairs. Bikini Care Scrub is a coconut oil-free blend specially formulated for the bikini area (and anywhere else you remove hair) and is great for stubborn ingrown hairs. The specific essential oils in the blend help prevent ingrown hairs more than exfoliating alone.
Why do your sugar scrubs say to use within 2-3 weeks of opening?
Our sugar scrubs don't contain any preservatives, which means that once you start using them (read: once you put anything into the jar, like a spoon or your fingers) they should be used quickly. With that said, if you peel of the seal just to smell the product (and you don't get anything like your fingers or water in the jar), it is absolutely fine to put the lid back on the jar and put it in the cabinet and come back months later. But once you open it and put it in your shower, use it up quickly. And - IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP WATER OUT OF THE JAR. That's why we suggest scooping with a spoon instead of your fingers - to minimize water and other contaminants getting into the scrub and ruining it.
I have diabetes and/or am watching my sugar intake. Can you use your sugar scrubs?
We aren't doctors and we've never measured or researched how much sugar from sugar scrubs is absorbed through the skin, but it's highly unlikely that your skin would absorb enough sugar to cause a problem (or count as sugar intake/calories). If you are concerned, check with your doctor.
These sugar scrubs smell good enough to eat! Can I eat them?
NO.
Our sugar scrubs are not edible, so please don't eat them (and don’t use the body scrubs on you lips)! Our lip scrubs are lip safe - meaning it's safe to put them on your lips and get some in your mouth, but we don't recommend eating them.
Why can't I get the jar open?
We use a machine that seals a liner inside the lid to the jar and these work great for keeping product from leaking. But sometimes they work too well and the lid gets stuck!
We find that a couple of hard taps of the lid on a solid surface will break the seal loose to get the jar open.
How often can I use sugar scrub?
We recommend a neck to toe scrub 2-3 times per week, but our scrubs are gentle enough to use daily if you’d like.
Can I use sugar scrub on my face?
Scrub Me Good exfoliating sugar scrubs are meant for use on the body. Stick to more gentle exfoliants on your face. Our lip scrubs are meant for the lips, but we do not recommend using those on the entire face.
How long will my jar of scrub last?
That depends on how often you use it and how much you use! Most find that a 10 ounce jar will scrub neck to toe 2 times per week for 3 weeks, and an 18 ounce jar will scrub neck to toe 3-4 times per week for 3 weeks.
Why doesn't sugar scrub need a preservative?
Because our products are oil-based and contain no water, a preservative is not needed. Keep water out of the package to maintain its freshness. Put it up on a shelf out of the water spray in the shower and use a utensil to scoop it. Unopened, our scrubs have a one-year shelf life, but once opened it should be used within a week or two, three weeks max.
