What initially got you interested in waxing and/or the beauty industry in general?

When I was growing up, I LOVED make up & would do awesome make up looks every day for school/work! I then decided I wanted to go to beauty school in 2015 and started in the beginning of 2016. I went to cosmetology school because I wanted to be able to do all things beauty related with my license. I learned a lot about hair & wanted to become a hairstylist, but soon after I graduated & started a job in a hair salon, I found out I had a really bad hair color allergy. Since I couldn’t color hair anymore, and that was my favorite thing to do, I decided to start waxing & the rest has been history!  I also have my certificate to lash as well, and had a little lash business for a couple years but waxing took over once I went full time with it & my clientele significantly grew 

What specifically drew you to (and continues to keep you with) Scrub Me Good’s products?

When I started my waxing business back in 2022, I was looking for a company or small business to wholesale from that sold non-scented organic based scrubs. I came across a website named Faire and immediately found Scrub Me Good! They had everything that I needed and SO MUCH MORE! I was impressed back then and they have continued to impress me throughout the years with their professionalism and their quality of products! My clients can’t get enough of their scrubs and now bikini care oil! That is why I continue to purchase the best of the best for my clients! 

How do you educate your clients about the importance of using natural and effective ingredients found in Scrub Me Good products?

As a waxer, the #1 after care instruction I tell my clients is to exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! We always want to remove the first layer of dead skin on the areas that we wax because if we don’t, that’s how ingrowns form! Waxing causes the hair to grow back so much thinner, restricting it from popping through your thick skin as easily as it once did. Removing that layer of dead skin will reduce your chances of getting ingrowns because you’re helping that thinner hair breakthrough that skin! With SMG products, they have oil in their sugar scrubs to replace the skins moisture after stripping it, by scrubbing  I call that a win win! 

What does your pre- and post-waxing/sugaring routine look like for optimal client results?

Pre wax routine would be to come in with clean fresh skin, make sure you’re wearing something light & airy, cotton underwear are usually the best to wear the day of your wax. Post wax routine I immediately apply ingrown hair serum to the skin that was just waxed and you leave that on for the remainder of the day. I always say wax days are relax days, so you want to make sure you don’t take any hot steamy showers, exercise, have intercourse, or anything that is going to make you sweat for 24 hours. Wait to exfoliate after your wax for a couple days & then exfoliate anywhere from 2 to 4 times a week just depending on your skin! Come back every 4 to 6 weeks to get regular waxing done for best results!

Can you share one of your favorite Scrub Me Good products for post-waxing care and why you recommend it to your clients?

My all time favorite product from SMG is the definitely the Sugar Scrubs, I mean you CANNOT go wrong with them. Everyone needs a good exfoliator whether you’re waxing or not, to get dead layers of built-up skin off, and with the added oil you just feel the smoothest you’ve ever felt in your life  I love the fact that they are all natural based ingredients in the sugar scrubs as well, so I know I am not putting anything chemical or harmful on my body when using it. I love that there are multiple scents to choose from & there is a non-scented option for all my girls who can’t use scented products! And not only do I recommend this to my clients while I am working on them, at the end of their service, I will even let them test it out on their hands in the sink and as soon as they feel their skin after using it they are immediately sold! This product definitely sells itself!

If you could tell a new business owner in the body hair removal space just one thing, what would it be?

Believe in yourself and GIVE IT ALL YOU GOT! Wake up for yourself and this dream everyday with a positive attitude & do this because it’s your passion. Being a waxer/aesthetician is being so many things at once, especially if you are running your own business and you have to be ready for it and that starts with a positive and focused mindset. The first year may be the hardest year, but it will also be the most rewarding year because it is the roots and foundation for your business to grow into something beautiful, I promise you  Don’t give up on your dreams, just take it day by day!  Just Breathe babes, you got this!
